CSV upload

This page lets you submit your RCSL data using a CSV file. A CSV is produced with common spreadsheet software, where data is separated by commas. It is ideal for submitting bulk declarations.

Contact Name

Please enter the name of the person HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) should contact with any Reverse Charge Sales Lists queries.

Contact Telephone Number

Please enter a telephone number for the person HMRC should contact with any Reverse Charge Sales Lists queries.

Amend CSV Upload

If you are amending a previously submitted declaration you need to upload an amended CSV file. When you are ready to continue with this amended declaration, click the ‘Review & submit’ button.

Upload CSV file

The ‘Browse’ button lets you locate the file you want to upload from your computer. Once you've located your file, click the ‘Review & submit’ button to continue.

Please note: The maximum file size you can upload is 900KB.

Validation checks are carried out during the upload of the file. If the information you've entered appears to be wrong you will be shown any error message(s) on the 'Review & submit' screen.

To avoid re-formatting problems HMRC suggest you open your file in 'Notepad' or a similar text editor programme to make any amendments.

This page contains errors. See details below

If the above message appears on the 'CSV Upload' page your file has been rejected because of a formatting error. Please refer to the on-screen message to identify the error.

Formatting errors include bad file formats, missing fields and fields not conforming to basic error checking.

The error message is made up of two parts

  • an explanation of the error
  • the line number and file name within that file

Where additional technical information is available it will be added to the bracketed information following the file name.

There may be inconsistencies in the data

If the above message appears this means your declaration contains inconsistent data. Please edit the lines marked as these have been identified as invalid.
